About Me
- Name: Shira Salamone
Once upon a time, I belonged to a left-wing egalitarian Conservative synagogue, where I was one of a number of women who wore a tallit—and one of the few members who used an Orthodox prayer book (adding the Mothers, of course). Having moved since then, I now belong to a right-wing traditional Conservative synagogue, where I’m almost always the only woman wearing a tallit—and one of the few members who adds the Mothers. I seem destined to be forever . . . on the fringe.

Keep going, please.
One more--sorry.
I apologize, but this is one of my "hidden" posts: I'm putting my thoughts in the comments so as to keep them invisible on screen unless one clicks, which my office-mates are not likely to do, in order to preserve what little remains of my anonymity at the office. Note that this was actually published on May 26, 2009.
Not only did my boss ask me to work yesterday, a US national holiday (Memorial Day), but he also bought lunch for the out-of-town guest with whom he had an appointment without thinking to buy any for me, and then had the unmitigated gall to ask me to do some personal paperwork for him. I turned him down flat. It's bad enough that I'm being asked to work on a holiday for comp time because of a deadline, but I won't be exploited.
Okay, rant over. We now return you to our irregularly scheduled blogging.
I too had to cut a camping trip short because the boss wanted to open his store memorial day. Only 1 person walked in all day and was the type who would have been ok returning tuesday.
Sheeesh!
Major bummer, dude.
(I must have watched too many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies with my son--I've always wanted to say that. :) )
